Product Frequently Asked Questions+

What kind of wax and wicks do you use in your candles?

+
All of our candles are made from natural, soy wax and lead-free cotton wicks for a longer, cleaner and environmentally friendly burn

Do I need to trim the wicks?

+
Yes. We advise that you trim the wicks to 5mm and ensure they're upright prior to each new burn.

How long will a candle burn for?

+
We aim to ensure all of our candles are as long lasting as possible, however burn times do vary based on a variety of factors including; candle maintenance, the length of each continuous burn time, placement and the age of the candle. In ideal conditions Moss St. Ceramics 320g candles will burn up to 65 hours and 100g candles for up to 25 hours. Moss St. Contemporary 320g candles will burn for up to 65 hours and 80g candles for up to 20 hours. To get the most out of your candles we always advise that you follow the enclosed burning instructions.

Why is there black residue on the inside of my candle glass?

+
Black residue can appear on the inside glass of the vessel if the candle has been burning for a longer period of time and if the wicks are too long. Always ensure your candle wicks are trimmed to 5mm before each burn. Black residue can easily be removed from the glass with a damp paper towel or cloth.

Are your products vegan friendly?

Where are your products made?

+
We are proudly an Australian owned and operated company. 85% of our products are made in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. We have over 70 Australian staff and this number is growing every day. So much so, that we are about to open our second operations facility in Sydney. We do have partial manufacturing offshore (for some of our products) to assist in our international expansion. Our products are all designed in Australia and all our fragrances are 100% Australian made in our NSW facility, regardless of where the end product is produced.

Can I buy candle refills?

+
As our candles are delicately hand poured into our custom designed vessels, we do not provide candle refills. However, your unique vessel can be re-used for a multitude of purposes long after your candle has finished.

Can I buy diffuser refills?

+
You absolutely can, Moss St. Ceramics has you covered! Mix and match all of our colourful designs and fragrances. Black diffuser reeds are sold separately, available in two sizes - 100ml and 350ml.

What are some ways I can re-use my candle and diffuser vessels?

+
When your candle or diffuser can no longer be used, remove the remaining wax or diffuser liquid and rinse with hot water. Your ceramic or glass vessel can now be used as a keepsake for a multitude of purposes in your home, including; a vase for your fresh flowers, stationery holder, bathroom accessories or a home for succulents.

How long will a diffuser last?

+
An opened 100ml diffuser will last up to 2 months, a 275ml diffuser will last up to 4 months and a 350ml diffuser will last up to 6 months. Please note, this can vary based on environmental factors as well as how often you flip the reeds. For best performance, please refer to the safety & care instructions on our website.

Why does the room diffuser liquid discolour when opened?

+
This is completely normal - the fragrance in the diffuser reacts with the oxygen in the air to produce a slight colour variation. Direct sunlight can also contribute to a colour change, so please ensure your room diffuser is kept out of direct sunlight, heat and drafts.
